It’s been a good two years since I’ve done any sort of bookbinding. I’m a little rusty, but I’m sitting here trying to absorb as much information as I can and hoping that it comes back to me like riding a bike (it probably won’t).

But I WAS really good at it two years ago. I bound a hardback book with a slipcover, and made Amanda this really insane book with a bunch of speciality paper.

So…. I’m thinking that if I can pull this off, my final project for Layout will be pretty stellar. We’ll see.

At my professor’s request, I ended up reworking the entire design. Taking cues from Robyn’s album cover, and using a behind the scenes pic from the Dancing On My Own video as the basis for the outline. I really love it and hope to give it to Robyn at the show in June!

I am just lining ‘em up and knocking ‘em down, baby!

This is totally my year.

I’m REALLY starting to like Illustrator. I feel like I’m getting a handle on it, and I can already see improvements in my work.

However, I’m still getting frustrated with creating a gig poster. BLERG.

Anyway, this was all my pieces for my portfolio review. If you look closely, you’ll notice that Amanda, Robyn and P!nk all made it into my portfolio =) My favorite ladies.

2/2/12 - Ugh. Four more to go. I’ll probably end up heavily tweaking what I’ve already done. I REALLY am pushing myself with these.

Working non-traditional hierarchy label designs in InDesign right now. I’ve done two of eight and my eyes are like -______-

I actually researched this time and did a lot of thumbnails. So I really want to work these designs until I’m absolutely sure that they’re great.

However, my head hurts right now hahaha.

Also, personally, I feel like shit tonight. Really need to go to the gym, but definitely coming up with every excuse not to. Hahaha. I’ll be a good boy and go though.

For my Layout class, I really like how they turned out. Need to trim the edges on the blue one before class tomorrow, though.

Finished my two Gestalt Layout projects.

I have 8 Label designs due Monday, and my Photoshop project is now due Wednesday.

I’m staying ahead of the game here!

I hate that I have a three hour break on M/W, but I’m hoping I can convince Amanda and/or Zach to meet me for lunch. Otherwise I’ll spend three hours doing homework. Not that that’s a bad thing, either. 

Advising/review went amazingly well this morning.

Surprisingly? I had NO anxiety. Who is this person?!?! =)

She said my portfolio looked great, and it’s getting submitted for OFFICIAL review today, and I’ll be getting a call within a week about it.

I’m registered full time for Spring, and she said I’m still on track to graduate in less than two years!

Studies

Forgot to even mention this last week.

I’m a full-time student again. Oh snap, here we go. It was a nice break… I’d like to think for the most part, I got my shit together. I’m definitely nervous, but also kind of excited. I still have a lot of work to do to finish my degree, but I know if I don’t do this, what kind of life would Amanda and I have?

I refuse to be a lifer at a restaurant, and Graphic Design is my dream. LET’S DO THISSSSS.
